Crystal Palace bounced back from their defeat by demolishing PL returnees Leeds United, 4-1, in Selhurst Park! The Eagles struggled and ended scoring nothing at the hands of Wolverhampton, 2-0.
The first half saw an early Crystal Palace lead starting from a header goal by Scott Dann at the 12-minute mark. The goal was an assist from attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze, who later added a second goal at the 22-minute mark. The free-kick goal was Eze’s first for Crystal Palace after signing with the club last summer.
Leeds had the opportunity of tying the game early from a rescinded goal by Patrick Bamford. The goal was reviewed by the Video Assistant Referee and was ruled an offside due to his outstretched arm. After trailing 2-0, Leeds showed signs of life after Bamford scored a clean goal at 27-minute mark. Mateusz Klich made a header pass to Bamford before the latter kicked-in for the goal.
At the closing minutes of the first half, Leeds’s woes grew as Helder Costa made an own goal which put Crystal Palace ahead, 3-1. Helder Costa conceded the goal after attempting to block Patrick van Aanholt’s attack.
Leeds started early in the second half but missed all of their opportunities made by Pascal Struijk and Ezgjan Alioski. Jordan Ayew’s goal at the 70-minute mark sealed the deal and the Eagles emerge victorious, 4-1.
Palace is now eighth in the Premier League standings with 13 points while Leeds is in the fifteenth place with 10 points. Palace travels to Turf Moor to clash with Burnley whereas Leeds United hosts Arsenal in Ellana Road.
