The Reds already has 4 wins and a loss in their 5 outings in the group stages. Liverpool’s lone goal in the match was made in the 58-minute mark by Curtis Jones, who was assisted from a cross by Neco Williams.

Davy Klaasen, a former Everton player, botched a well-orchestrated open attack from Ajax. Neres’ also wasted an opportunity as his attack at the 57-minute mark ended up hitting the woodwork.

Meanwhile, attacks from Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Noussair Mazraoui were both stopped by Reds’ goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

Irish player Kelleher started in the game as first-choice goalkeeper Alisson was out of action due to a hamstring injury. Kelleher made a stellar performance with his defense that kept Ajax at bay.

His exceptional outing in the Champions League was well-received by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who went straight to him after the final whistle sounded. The future of Spanish goalkeeper Adrian is now being questioned by some people after he was omitted from the starting 11 for the fixture.

The win already secured the first spot for the Reds in Group D and will face Danish club Midtjylland in Denmark on December 9 for their final match, a dead rubber, in the group stages.
