IPL auction 2022: 8 franchises revealed retained players list

A total of 27 players have been retained by their respective franchises ahead of the Indian Premier League big auctions, which will see 10 teams compete for the fittest & finest cricketers in the world. Have a look at details of retained & released revealed by W88 India.

1. Chennai Super Kings

  • CSK has a balance of ₹48 crores in its purse.


All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja (16 crores)Dhoni (12 crores), all-rounder Moeen Ali (8 crores), and Ruturaj Gaikwad (6 crores) were retained by the reigning champions. 

2. Royal Challengers Bangalore

  • RCB has a balance of ₹57 crores in its purse.


Former captain Virat Kohli (15 crores)Glenn Maxwell (11 crores), and Mohammed Siraj(7 crores) have all been retained by the Bangalore franchise. Harshal Patel, the previous edition’s purple cap champion and spinner Yuzvendra Chahal are significant removals from the RCB camp.

3. Mumbai Indians 

  • MI has a balance of ₹48 crores in its purse.


Mumbai Indians, the IPL’s most successful team, has retained Rohit Sharma (16 crores). Apart from the skipper, the team backed Kieron Pollard (6 crores) a premier seamer from the West Indies, Suryakumar Yadav (8 crores), and Jasprit Bumrah(12 crores).

4. Rajasthan Royals

  • RR has a balance of ₹62 crores in its purse.


Sanju Samson (14 crores), England’s Jos Buttler (10 crores), and young Yashasvi Jaiswal (4 crores) have all been backed by Rajasthan Royals. England’s Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer have been released by the franchise.

5. Kolkata Knight Riders

  • KKR has a balance of ₹48 crores in its purse.


Kolkata Knight Riders have backed Russell (12 crores)Iyer (8 crores), and Narine(6 crores) because of their all-round strength. Aside from the trio, the team also held on to Varun Chakravarthy (8 crores), the mystery spinner.

6. Delhi Capitals

  • DC has a balance of ₹47.5 crores in its purse.


While Shreyas Iyer and Shikhar Dhawan have been released by the Delhi Capitals, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant (16 crores) will continue to captain the team. Apart from him, Prithvi Shaw (7.5 crores), Axar Patel (9 crores), and Anrich Nortje (6.5 crores) have also been retained by the franchise.

7. Punjab Kings

  • PBKS has a balance of ₹72 crores in its purse.


KL Rahul wanted to be a part of the auctions, thus Punjab Kings will have a new captain, according to coach Anil Kumble. Meantime, Mayank Agarwal (12 crores) and Arshdeep Singh (4 crores), a rookie seamer, have been retained by the franchise.

8. Sunrisers Hyderabad

  • SRH has a balance of ₹68 crores in its purse.


Sunrisers Hyderabad made a significant move by releasing Rashid Khan, their star campaigner. The SRH did not retain Jonny Bairstow, David Warner, Jason Holder, or Jason Roy. The team, on the other hand, chose Kane Williamson (14 crores) to lead the team. Apart from him, the squad kept two uncapped Indian players in Abdul Samad and Umran Malik for a total of ₹4 crores.
